Darlene Lois Jorgensen, 89 of Carlisle, passed away peacefully Wednesday May 10th at the Carlisle Care Center surrounded by family. Darlene was born in Marathon, Iowa on March 20th, 1928. She was united in marriage to LeoJorgensen on July 23rd, 1946. From this marriage, five children were born. She lived most of her life in Carlisle. She enjoyed camping, fishing, crocheting, sewing, baking, and spending time with her family. Darlene is survived by her children Linda (Jerry) Myhre of Clear Lake, Terry (Tami) Jorgensen of Indianola, Bruce Jorgensen of Indianola, and Lori (Ron) Floyd of Carlisle; sister Marjorie Thompson of Carlisle, 11 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, daughter Cynthia Rice, grandsons Michael Robinson and Chris Jorgensen, great-grandson Levi Hall, and daughter-in-law Theresa Jorgensen. Visitation will be held Monday May 15th at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle from 5-7pm. Memorial Funeral Services will be held Tuesday May 16th at 11am with burial after. The family invites you to a luncheon following the burial at the Family Life Center. Memorial contributions may be made to The University of Iowa Department of Otolarynology, where Darlene was part of a program, to help further cochlear implant research.
