Ronald Wayne "Ronnie" Van Vleet passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at his home in Carlisle. A memorial funeral service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. A private family visitation will be held from 4:00-5:00 pm, Tuesday, January 19, 2016 with a public visitation to follow from 5:00-7:00 pm, at Peterson Funeral Home. Burial of ashes will follow services in the Carlisle Township Cemetery. Ronnie was born on July 31, 1961 to Ronald Van Vleet and Lorraine Carlson. Ronnie graduated from Carlisle High School and worked for the family business, Sandstone Management. Ronnie enjoyed so many hobbies in life. He loved to spend his time in the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his father, Ron and son, Brandon. The three of them made many a fishing trip to Canada together. Ronnie also enjoyed shooting pool weekly with his buddies. He was a member of two pool leagues, one of which he captained. Ronnie's Harley-Davidson motorcycle accrued many miles. He visited surrounding towns for bike nights and weekend rides. Knoxville was one of those towns that he visited frequently. He was a sprint car fanatic and loved to make the trip on Saturday nights. He never missed a National Championship Race. His dog, Lucy, was the light of his life, and his constant companion. Ronnie is survived by his father Ronald (Sue) Van Vleet of Carlisle; mother Lorraine Martin of Carlisle; son, Brandon(Stephanie)Van Vleet of Indianola; sisters, Christine(Rob)Stiehl of Carmel, Indiana and Noelle(Don)Hofer of Littleton, CO.; grandson, Mason Van Vleet; and dear friends, Bob and Jorita Madison of Pleasanton, IA., Leanne and Bobby Dickerson of Johnston, IA, and Don and Kari Miller of Carlisle. Ronnie was preceded in death by a son Nathan Van Vleet; sister, Lynn Van Vleet and Stepfather Leon Martin. Online condolences may be made at www.petersonfuneralservice.com .
