Leonard W. Abel, 77, of Carlisle died of a circulatory ailment Friday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Carlisle United Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be at Carlisle City Cemetery. Mr. Abel was born in Leroy and had lived in Humeston before moving to Carlisle 40 years ago. He had operated a Conoco service station in Humeston and worked as a miller's helper at General Mills in Avon. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of American Legion in Carlisle. He is survived by his wife, Vera; two sons, Roger and Rick, both of Carlisle; four daughters, Andra Kay Black, Martha DeJoode and Galya Stewart, all of Carlisle, and Patsy Daniel of Iowa Falls; a brother, Calvin Abel of Carlisle; a sister, Maxine Love of Chariton; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the church. Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle is handling arrangements.
