Rolland Dean (Dinger) Alden, 63 of Carlisle, Iowa was called home to his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at home. Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, May 28, 2010 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Carlisle with family visitation held Thursday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Dinger was born in Mason City, Iowa on November 23, 1946 to Rolland V. and Marie (Eichmann) Alden. He grew up on the family farm north of Latimer and attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church School through 8th grade and graduated from CAL Community High School in Latimer in 1965. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. Upon Graduation Dinger began working for Hallett Construction Company in Geneva, Iowa. He continued working for Hallet for 44 years in various locations including Boone, Des Moines, and Pleasant Hill until his retirement in December 2009. He enjoyed cooking for friends and family, hunting for mushrooms, fishing and working on his tractor collection and spending time with his cherished family. Dinger married Bonnie Jean Thurman on July 26, 1975 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone. He was a member of Holy Coss Lutheran Church in Carlisle where he served as congregation president, elder, Sunday school teacher, and confirmation assistant. Dinger is survived by his wife of almost 35 years, Bonnie of Carlisle; Daughters Suzie Alden of Carlisle and Shelly (Mark) Lindahl of Boone; Grandsons Bryan and Blake Alden of Carlisle, Brandon Alden and Stephan Lindhal of Boone; Sisters Kathleen (Ross Loudon) Kester of Boone and Christine (Bob) of Sioux City; Sisters in law Donella (Marv) Thurman of Des Moines, Beverly Rutherford of Benton, Jolene (Bob) Jones of Mt. Ayr, Barbara (Clay) Callies of Van Wert, Nancy Reynolds of Mt. Ayr, Robin (Mick) Berkenholser of Mt. Ayr; Brothers in law Billy (Michelle) Thurman of Dallas Center and Elton Ray (Terri) Jackley of Mt. Ayr and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Dinger was preceeded in death by his beloved son Marlin in 1997, his father Rolland V. Alden, grandparents Emma and Abner Alden and Elizabeth and Fred Eichmann; Father in law Marion Thurman and mother in law Dorothy Anderson.
