Betty Maxine McAninch, 83, of Carlisle passed away on April 21, 2014 at the Carlisle Care Center. Memorial Services for Betty will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Carlisle City Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following burial at the Family Life Center. Betty was born October 23, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in the Des Moines area. Betty was united in marriage to Rex McAninch on May 17, 1947 in Troy, Kansas. They made their home early on in the Des Moines area and eventually settled in Carlisle where they raised their daughters. Betty is survived by her husband of 66 years, Alva (Rex) of Carlisle, daughters Charlotte (Jack) Peterson of Carlisle, Shirley (Jon) Schuttinga of Indianola, Debra (Larry) Billings of Carlisle, and Kim (Chris) Bell of Altoona, 8 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents. Betty was a wonderful cook, and especially loved having her family gather at their home for big meals, with holidays being her favorite time. Sundays were spent with the daughters and families stopping by for an afternoon visit. The grandchildren also loved spending time at the grandparents, and spent summer vacations there. She was known for being generous with her time and helping others when in need. She was a caregiver to both her mother and her aunt.
