Obituary
Elizabeth Keffer was born Dec 15, 1831, in the state of Indiana. She with her parents came to Iowa in 1856. Jan 16, 1856 she was united in marriage to Thomas Huffman. To this union were born seven children, three having preceded her in death, Sarah Eliza who died in infancy, George C. died in 1901 and Mrs. Hattie Lee in 1896. The remaining ones are: Samuel G. and Elmer, of Truro, Iowa, Mrs. Allie Lee, of Thayer, Iowa, and Mrs. Ida Barnett, of Denver, Col. Besides these she leaves three brothers, twenty-two grandchildren and eight great grandchildren to mourn their loss. The greater part of her life was spent on their farm near Truro. In 1910 they moved to Truro where her husband died April 21, 1912. In August 1915 she went to Thayer to make her home with her daughter, where she remained until she peacefully passed away Jan 27, 1920 after a brief illness. She with her husband united with the Christian church of Truro, more than forty years ago and remained a true Christian until the end. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Raybour, of Thayer, and the body taken to New Virginia cemetery and laid to rest beside her husband. A precious one from us is gone, a voice we loved is still, a place is vacant in our home, which never can be filled; God in his wisdom did recall, the boon his love had given, and tho the body slumbers here, the soul is safe in heaven.
