Obituary – Martha Wheeler Noel
Martha Wheeler was born March 8, 1888, near Indianola, Iowa, and died January 1, 1911, at the home of her mother, Mary Wheeler in Clay Center, Kansas, after an illness of six weeks. She received a part of her education in the rural schools, later entering the public school of Indianola which she finished, also graduated from high school in the spring of 1905. She was united in marriage to Floyd K. Noel of Indianola, Iowa, October 12, 1910. After their marriage they made their home at Axtell, Kansas. She united with the Farmers M. E. church in December 1894 and always lived a sweet consistent church life imparting her goodness to all those with whom she came in contact. In Indianola where Mrs. Noel has always lived until five months ago she has many dear friends. She was an earnest worker in the Young Woman’s Christian Association of the high school and was faithful in her Sunday school work. During her long illness she was patient and kind. When she knew that she could not get well she was ready and willing to go. Her faith was placed completely with her savior. Funeral services were held in Clay Center, Monday p.m., after which the remains were brought to Indianola, Iowa, and short services were held at the home of Marion Spray Tuesday p.m. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, mother, four sisters and three brothers and a host of friends. Her father, one sister and one brother have preceded her. Mr. Noel, Mrs. Wheeler and family wish to express their appreciation of all the kindness shown them by their friends in their recent sorrow.
