James Clifford Norris
(June 7, 1951 - April 21, 2016)

Celebration of life services for James “Jim” Norris, 64, who passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, will be held 6 p.m. Monday, April 25 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, IA, with visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to service.
He is survived by his children, Amy (Brad) Craig of Carlisle, Cory Norris of Des Moines, Emilee Norris (Josh Asher) of Redfield, Carolanne (Jon) Walter of Davenport; grandchildren, Ariel, Madison, Ashlynn Williams, Colton and Chase Craig, and Preston Norris; significant other of 12 years, Tammie Adkins; brothers, Mike (Debbie) and Merrill (Marj) Norris; sisters, Debbie (Royce) Prickett and Becky (Mike)Wood. He is preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter Carrie Ann.
Jim grew up in Indianola. He went to work for Iowa Machinery, Clark Lift, and then joined his parents at Norris Automotive and took over the business after their retirement in 1994.In 2006, he opened AJ’s Service in Carlisle. He spent the majority of his life working on vehicles and serving the communities he loved up to the time of his passing. It was his true passion to help others. Jim was a hot air balloon pilot, car, and drag racing enthusiast. He loved to travel and spend time with his grandkids when he could. Our family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude towards all the doctors and nurses at IMMC during his last days for the wonderful care they provided.
