Betty Lou Mulligan
(October 31, 1931 - April 22, 2016)Services for Betty Lou Bingaman-Mulligan, 84, who passed away Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, will be held 11:30 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Overton Funeral Home with burial following in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Prior to service.
Betty was born in Des Moines, IA on Oct. 31, 1931 to Raymond and Elsie Decker. She was one of eight children. Betty was married to James Richard Bingaman; they had five children together before he passed in 1972. Betty spent her career as a professional cake decorator. She enjoyed dancing, coffee, playing cards, spending time with her family and decorating cakes for family; most notably for her grandchildrens’ special occasions. Betty married Thomas Mulligan in 1985.
Betty is survived by her children, Michael Cain, Walla Walla, WA; Diane (Dick) Reece, Adel, IA; and Ramona (Robert) Hill, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren Amy (Josh) Van Baale, Monroe, IA; Brian Miller, Indianola, IA; Stacey (David) Whipple, Indianola, IA; Echo Cain, Portland, OR; Jessie (Kurt) Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD; Dillon Cain, Portland, OR; Casey (Sean) McMurray, Bondurant, IA; Sjon (Jenny) Phelps, Creston, IA; Adam Barmore, Des Moines, IA; Angie (Josh) Koch, Ankeny, IA; Eric Bingaman, Des Moines, IA; 20 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; siblings Virginia Decker, Norwalk, IA; Clarence Decker, Branson, MO; Ruth Miller, Indianola, IA; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family, including her beloved dog Buffy. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, her husbands, son, Richard Bingaman, and daughter, Suzanne Rogers.
