Carolyn Grace Sheets
(January 10, 1959 - September 25, 2016)

Surrounded by her children, Carolyn Grace Sheets, 57, passed away peacefully from complications of brain cancer Sunday, September 25, 2016 in Indianola, Iowa. Carolyn was born January 10, 1959 to Otto L. and Bernadette P. Jones. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1977. After receiving her baccalaureate from Grand View College she went to work for Principal Financial Group. She then worked for Warren County before her most recent employment with Vanderpool Construction of Indianola. Carolyn will be remembered by many for the lasting influence she left as a servant to others. She yearned to bring light into the lives of all of those she encountered. That light shines brightly in the lives she touched through her leadership in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and her service to the Indianola Church of Christ. She was a soccer mom, dance mom, community organizer, and champion of kindness. She was a sister to many and a friend to all. Survivors include her children, Johanna (Chris) MacKenzie, Andy (Hannah Wilson) Sheets, Alex Sheets and Jesse Hanson; grandchildren, Annie and Molly MacKenzie; and siblings, Denzil Jones and Betty Hanson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Bernadette Jones, and her siblings, Bobby Lenhart, Wyvonne Jones, and Juanita Hill.
Services for Carolyn will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, September 29 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
