Betty M. King
(January 25, 1932 - January 3, 2017)

Graveside services for Betty M. King, 84, who passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017, will be held 3:30 p.m. Saturday, January 7 in the Belmont Cemetery, Milo, IA. The visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Overton Funeral Home prior to services.
Survivors include her children, Vicki King, David (Kim) King, Kevin (Becky) King, and Kyle King; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; sister, Roberta Phillips. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dale King, daughter Kathy King, and a brother Don Wilson.
Betty was born to Robert Bruce and Anna Rose (Cope) Wilson in rural Warren County. Her childhood and teen years were split between rural Warren County and What Cheer, IA. During her high school years she enjoyed playing 6 on 6 girls basketball as a guard. When the game ended she would change into her cheerleading uniform and cheer for the boys team.
After high school she married Dale King on July 16, 1950, and they enjoyed more than 56 years together until his death in January of 2007. After residing in South Dakota for a couple of years, they found their way back to the Warren County area. To this marriage were born 5 children, Kathy, Vicki, David, Kevin and Kyle. Among their adventures as a married couple was taking to the road on a combine run across the upper Midwest.
Betty always enjoyed working with children. She spent 21 years working for the S. E. Warren Elementary Schools. She split her years equally between Milo and Lacona in a variety of capacities. Her love of kids extended to her church, Milo Christian Union. She taught Bible school and beginner church for a number of years and continued to help in any way she was needed until she was unable.
You didn’t have to visit with Betty very long to know how important her Faith and Family were to her. She didn’t always have the easiest of times but her faith in God to see her thru anything never failed.
Betty will be greatly missed by her loving family and all who knew her. She would be the first to say don’t be sad because I have gone to a much better place. Memorials may be given to the Milo Christian Union Church. This memorial is provided by Overton Funeral Home, 501 West Ashland Ave., Indianola, Iowa, [http://www.overtonfuneral.com/]
