Frank Edward Taylor
(December 27, 1929 - March 4, 2017)

Frank Edward Taylor, 87, who went to be in the arms of his Lord, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017 at The Village in Indianola surrounded by his family. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 8 at the Indianola First Baptist Church. Burial with military rites will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9 in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery at Van Meter, IA.
Frank graduated from Indianola High School with the class of 1948, attended Simpson College for one year and served in the United States Army being discharged in June of 1953. Soon after returning home, Frank met Bernadine (Bun) Mardell Putnam at the roller rink in Des Moines. They married in Indianola on March 19, 1955.
Frank chose farming as his career. He was active in the community serving on the Indianola School Board, Township Trustee, Township Assessor, and the ASC Committeeman. He belonged to the American Legion, was a life member of the FFA and earned the State FFA Farmer Degree and the RFD’s. He was a member of the First Baptist Church serving as moderator, deacon, and trustee. He also served on the building, pulpit, memorial, nominating and budget committees. He was a member of Farm Bureau and was a Township Director, drove an Indianola School Bus, worked with Warren County Transportation and the Good Samaritan Transportation.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Bun; children, Howard (Deborah) Taylor of Milo, Marie (Kevin) Eikenberry of Des Moines, Louise (Terry Harding) Taylor-Seibert of Norwalk, Arlene (Robin) Kluesner of Indianola, Joyce (Rich) White of Cedar Rapids, Lavern (Lisa) Taylor of Mead, NE; 21 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Georgeen) Taylor of Sturgeon Bay, WI; sister-in-law, Lore Taylor of Columbia, MO; several nephews, a niece and other relatives and many friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Taylor.
Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be given in his name to the First Baptist Church.
