Boy Drowned in Middle River
Harrison Palmer, 17 years old, of Des Moines, was drowned in North River on last Sunday morning. The accident occurred on the P. B. Sherriff farm near the Jefferson highway bridge. Young Palmer, in company with two Des Moines companions, rode out on bicycles from the city. The weather was too warm and they decided to go into the river for a swim. Soon after getting into the water, Palmer was seized with cramps and before the younger boys, who were with him, could aid him, sank for the last time. The boys rushed to the road and stopped Dr. J. W. Luce and a party of Des Moines friends who were on their way to Indianola to spend the day. Coroner DeFord, of Carlisle, was notified and with assistance recovered the body that evening. The remains were taken to Des Moines andfuneral services held on Tuesday.
