Louisa Jane Austin
Louisa Jane, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Miller, was born in Morgantown, West Virginia, February 20, 1841, and passed away in Indianola, Iowa, August 7, 1913, aged 72 years, 5 months, and 7 days. She was united in marriage to John B. Austin, at Morgantown, W. Va., February 17, 1859. They came to Iowa after the war and settled in Indianola. Mrs. Augstin lived in this city continuously from 1865 until her death. She was a member of the James Randolph Relief Corps. She was converted at the age of fifteen and joined the Methodist episcopal church in Independence, W. Va; she transferred her membership to the church in Indianola shortly after her arrival here; she has been a consistant and devoted member of this church all these years. Her faith in God was steadfast, and throughout the prelonged period of suffering which she was compelled to endure to the last, she looked forward eagerly to the release which should come with death. Of the three children which gladened her life, one Mary Elizabeth, preceded her mother, leaving two to mourn the loss of their mother; Sarepta E. Perigo, of Des Moines; and Arlington W. Austin of this city. She also leaves seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
