William H. Funk
(July 17, 1853 - April 5, 1917)

Lacona Ledger, Friday, Apr 13, 1917
Obituary
William H. Funk was born in Wapello County, Iowa, July 17, 1853. He was married to Carrie Edgar February 27, 1876; he moved to Warren County, Iowa in February 1882, where he has since resided until the end of his pilgrimage April 5, 1917. He is survived by his wife and one son, Claude Funk, of Lacona, and by four brothers and one sister: Samuel Funk of Kirksville, Missouri; Lambert Funk of Ottumwa, Iowa; Thomas Funk, Frank Funk and Mrs. George Devol, residing near that place.
As a citizen he was held in high esteem filing at different times several civil offices, being for six years a member of the County Board of Commissioners. He was Past Master of Inter Ocean Lodge, No. 152, of the Masonic order of which he had been a worthy member since 1894.
He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Master and united with the Methodist Episcopal church when about fourteen years of age and remained a faithful member of that church to the day of his death. He was for many years Sunday school Superintendent and was for thirty four years a member of the Official Board of that church in Lacona.
A kind husband and father, an obilging neighbor, a useful citizen, a devout and faithful christian rests from his labors and his works do follow him. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. E. Hamilton. The service at the grave was conducted by Inter Ocean Lodge No. 152, A. F. & A. M. Interment was made in the Cochran cemetery.
Card of Thanks – We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the many kind neighbors and friends who helped us with their labor and sympathy in our sad hour of bereavement in the death of our beloved husband and father. We also wish to thank those who sent us the beautiful floral offerings and especially to the brothers of Inter Ocean Lodge No. 152 A. F. & A. M. and members of the order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Carrie Funk, Claude E. Funk and family
