Sarah J. Reeves
(May 7, 1835 - Sep 26, 1908)

Obituary
Sarah J. (Chick) Reeves, was born in the state of Pennsylvania, May 7, 1835, she came with her parents to Mahaska County, Iowa, in 1854, was married to Robert F . Reeves, January 14, 1858, moved to Warren county in 1866. To this union was given eight children, six girls and two boys, William Oscar and Ora having died in infancy. The living are Mrs. Elva Trotter, Mrs. Hattie Starr, Mrs. Elizabeth Trotter, Mrs. Eva Sandy and Mrs. Agnes Sandy.
She died September 26th, at 6 p. m., aged 73 years, 4 months and 19 days. The deceased leaves to mourn the loss of a dear one, an afflicted companion, 5 daughters, 16 grand children, 2 great grand children, 2 brothers and 3 sisters, with many friends and other relatives. But she has gone from earth into the realms of the unknown where we hope, "The wicked cease from troubling and the weary are at rest."
She was a kind neighbor, a dutiful and loving wife and an affectinate mother, and we have hope that our loss is her Eternal gain. She never made a public profession of religion, yet the evidences were in her favor that goodness was sowen in the heart, and if so, she will reap the benefit of it. The blessings of the Lord are never revoked.
She, with her companion, were pioneer settlers of Warren county, and by industry and economy had built them up a good home and had always resided on the farm until four years ago when the deseases and afflictions of life, common to men, preyed upon them until they were unable to attend to the duties incident to farm life, so they moved to Milo where they have since resided. For the last two months she had been unable to help herself but little, and notwithstanding that all was done that could be done by physican, family and kind neighbors to relieve the afflicted [was done].
