Elvira Sandy
(April 24, 1834 - June 1, 1908)

Mrs. Elvira Lambert Sandy.
The Deceased, Mrs. Elvira Lambert Sandy was born in Taswell Co., Va., April 24, 1834, into a family of six children, four sisters and two brothers all of whom have gone before her. United with the Christian church in Sandyville of which she remained a faithful member until her death on Monday morning June 1 '08 at the home of her eldest son, in
Polk Co., aged 74 years, 1 month and 9 days. She moved to this state with her parents in 1843 and was married to Wm. G. Sandy Feb. 19, 1856 to which union were born 4 daughters and 2 sons; Julina, Amanda Jane, Mary Elizabeth, Laura Ann, Thomas T., and Homer Grant, all of whom are living and present with us. She leaves her children, one step-son Joseph G., their families and many other relatives and a host of warm friends to mourn her departure.
In her home she was kind, most hospitable and generous, loved and respected by all who knew her, and no stranger was ever turned away from her door in need. While in sorrow and sickness she was most kind, sympathetic and helpful, her tender hands ever ready to sooth and alleviate the suffering. Her affliction since the death of her much beloved husband in 1903 has been sore and grievous, which was borne with patience, hence: her departure for a land where no sorrow, no sickness, no death is a most happy one for the deceased. May her children and friends be that obedient to the gospel of Christ that they will be permitted to one day greet her in a far better land is the hope and prayer.
