Obituary—Roy B. Clark
Roy B. Clark, eldest of Charles and Ella Clark, was born near Dallas, Marion Co., Iowa, November 2, 1890, and departed this life Wednesday, January 11, 1911, at his home near Hammondsburg, Iowa, aged twenty years, two months and nine days..
Roy was a young man of exemplary habits; a kind and dutiful son and an affectionate brother. His manly traits of character won for him friends and he became a favorite both of the young and of the old. He was converted during a meeting held at Hammondsburg church in January, 1909. He leaves to mourn his early departure a father, two sisters, and three brothers and a host of friends. His mother who was very sick at the time of his death received the summons home the next morning after her son's departure.
While sorrow and grief our home seems now filling, and these things we now cannot understand, yet in our sad hearts God's love is there thrilling when we think of that bright and heavenly land.
That land where death, nor sickness, nor sorrow, can reach the soul of the departed one, where each day will be a happy tomorrow, the home prepared for this dutifuil son.
While to us who are left; the way may seem dark, yet if 'tis Thy will Lord that things should be so, O, light up our way with a heaven ly spark as to Thee we come, for where else can we go.
We know that some day in that far better land, when the scenes of this life from us have all passed, we then with our boy will take the glad hand, and that joy, and peace, and gladness shall last. Yes Roy was good and of each kindly deed.
