William Clayton Hukill
(Sep 9, 1839 - Oct 4, 1910)

William Clayton Hukill was born in Scotland county, Ohio, September 9, 1839, and departed this life at the Old Hukill homestead seven miles east of Milo where he had resided for some forty years, October 4, 1910. He was married to Margaret Jane Riddle in the state of Illinois, October 1st, 1863. To this union seven children were born, Emma B. Ferguson, Walter G. Hukill, Carrie O. Adamson, Cora D. Gifford, Maranda Hukill, Luella E. Ferguson and Fred Hukill, all of whom, with the wife, survive him, except Maranda, who departed this life September 5, 1875, at the age of four years, seven months, and eight days.
Mr. Hukill was well and favorably known by a large circle of friends, an energetic man of sterling integrity in the full sense of the term; a good citizen has been called from our midst. He was a quiet sojourner along life’s pathway, a loving husband, an indulgent father, a good neighbor, and a man that was loved most by those who knew him best.
Funeral services were conducted by C. S. Fair at the Springdale church, October 7, in the presence of a large and sympathetic audience, after which all that was mortal of this good man was taken to the beautiful Lincoln cemetery near Knoxville for interment.
