Obituary – Mrs. Frank Jacobs
Our community paused for a moment in its onward rush of life when the word was flashed along the wires of the death of Mrs. Phoebe Jacobs at Dunkirk, Montana.
Phoebe E. Emmons, daughter of George W. and Ruth A. Emmons was born in Otter township, Warren county, Iowa, December 29, 1873, and the summons came for the change of worlds June 21, 1911, she being 37 years, 5 months, and 22 days old. She was married to Frank Jacobs at Milo, Iowa, Dec 25, 1894. To this union were born four children: Blanche, Harry, and Fern; one dying when but an infant.
Shortly after her marriage, they moved on a farm near Liberty Center where they resided most of the time until something over a year ago, when they secured a home in a new country near Dunkirk, Montana and in this home endured the trials and triumphs, hopes and hardships, pleasures and privations, which are characteristic of the settlement and development of a new country.
But in their western home it was not as in some for besides her husband and children she had the loving care of a number of other relatives and friends who were with her in her last sickness to administer every want and make her last days as comfortable as human hands are competent to do. With her sudden going away she leaves a faithful companion, three children, an aged father, a brother, sisters and a number of other relatives and friends who are grieved either from a sense of personal loss or in sympathy for those who have been so suddenly berefit of this beloved wife and mother.
The body arrived in Milo, Monday morning and was taken to the home of Mrs. Josephine Jacobs where the funeral services were conducted by C. S. Fair.
