Mary Jane Moon
(Dec 26, 1822 - June 3, 1906)

Mary Jane Moon was born in Highland county, Ohio, Dec 26, 1822, and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Crabb in Belmont township, June 3, 1906, age 83 years, 5 months, and 7 days. When she was about 30 years old she left her home in Ohio, and with her mother, brother, and sister, moved to Iowa, locating at Palmyra, Warren county, where she resided some forty years. About 15 years ago, she moved to Milo and made that her home for about 10 years. For the last five years she has made her home with her foster daughter, Mrs. Belle Crabb, and all that loving hearts and willing hands could do was done to make her last days pleasant. Aunt Mary had been a real mother to Mrs. Crabb from the time she was 4 years old, and a strong bond of affection bound them together.
In early life she united with the Friends church and all the years of her long life lived a consistant Christian, and died in the full triumphs of a living hope in Christ.
A good woman has gone to her reward in Heaven. “the golden gates were opened, a gentle voice said come, and the farewells unspoken, she calmly entered home.”
Funeral services were conducted by C. S. Fair at the Belmont Zion church, June 4th, in the presence of a large audience.
