(April 22, 1834 - April 5, 1911)

Obituary—Warren S. Duncan
Warren S. Duncan was born in the state of Illinois, April 22nd, 1834 and died at the home of his oldest son, April 5th, 1911, aged 76 years, 11 months and 13 days. At the age of two years he came with his parents to Iowa. In 1856 he was married to Sarah A. Hayes and to this union born seven children, five sons and two daughters. All the children were with him in his sickness but two, they with their mother having preceded him to that Heavenly Home.
He was converted at Newbern, Iowa, many years ago and united with the U. B. church. Later he with his wife united with the C. U. church at Plainville Chapel. Besides the children there are left to mourn their loss one brother and three sisters and a host of other relatives and friends. But their loss is his gain. He has only gone on before us a little while and is beckoning us to come home. He will be sadly missed in the homes of his children with whom he has made his home since his wife's death.
The one so dearly cherished now we gently lay to rest. And we try to bear our sorrow, for we feel that God knows best. Thou art gone, our dear father, Gone beyond this vale of tears, but in memory you will linger through all the coming years.
Funeral services were held at Plainville Chapel, April 7, conducted by C. S. Fair, after which all that was mortal of this quiet sojourner was consigned to the narrow limits of the tomb.
