Jane Wallerstedt
(Oct 27, 1923 - July 25, 2015)

Jane (Mosely) Wallerstedt, age 91, passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 at The Village in Indianola, Iowa. She was born in Boone, Iowa, on October 27, 1923. She grew up in Des Moines but lived most of her adult life in Indianola. During the war she worked as a Radio Engineering Aide in Dayton, Ohio. At Jane’s request there will be no services.
Survivors include her sons, Chuck, Alan, and Barry; grandchildren, Nathan, Kyle, Kirsten, Tess, Nicholas, Alex and Emily; great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Besides raising children, Jane was extremely active in the community. At one time the Indianola Record Herald started a “Good Guy” award for people who had contributed to our town. Jane was the first recipient! She belonged to many groups including P.E.O., a sewing club, and bridge clubs. One of Jane’s greatest accomplishments was helping to start the chapter of the League of Women Voters. She worked tirelessly to bring it to fruition and was asked to speak about it locally and around the state. Her passion for politics was a strong force in her life. For many years she worked as an aide in the State Legislature.
Jane will be remembered for many things - but most of all for her wit, her intelligence and her thoughtfulness. And what a writer she was! She sent out thousands of letters, cards and postcards during the course of her lifetime and they can still bring a smile years later. She will be missed.
A special thank you to The Village. Jane was in wonderful hands. There were many employees who stopped by on their breaks to check on her and to pray for her. Their compassion and dedication is amazing. The Wesley Life Hospice people were there to make sure that she was comfortable in her final weeks.
