Helen Myrtle Utsler Foust was born November 4, 1912, in Old Valley Junction, Iowa, and entered into rest on August 8, 2006, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center in Indianola, Iowa.

Helen married Vern Foust on August 21, 1931. They had four children: Jerry -- who died at age two in October 1937 -- Marilyn, Carolyn and Gary. Helen lived most of her life in or around Indianola, and was a 1930 graduate of Indianola High School.

She enjoyed reading -- especially Westerns by Louis L'Amour, fishing, and spending time with her family and friends. She had read the entire Bible twice.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Hannibal and Minnie Jones Utsler; brothers, Leonard, Elmer, Glenn and Cecil; husband, Vern; and son, Jerry.

She is survived by her daughters, Marilyn Kuhn and her husband Joel of West Des Moines, Iowa, Carolyn Penfield and her husband Cleo of Lemmon, South Dakota; son Gary Foust and his wife LaVerta of Indianola; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews; other family and friends.

Visitation will be held Thursday, August 10, 2006, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 11, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by interment in the Norwalk Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in Helen's name to Hospice of Central Iowa or Trinity United Presbyterian Church of Indianola.
