Homer Leigh Turnbull, 88, died Thursday, May 19, 2005 at Kavanaugh House. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Burial will be in the Milo I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Homer was born May 18, 1917 in Brighton, Iowa. He had lived in Warren County before moving to southern Iowa 30 years ago. He worked as a farmer and truck driver and enlisted with the Army Calvary from 1938 to 1941.
Homer is survived by his son, Dwain (Dorothy) Turnbull of Indianola; daughters, Phyllis (Clarence) Stills of Truro and Linda (James) Alexander of Lacona; sisters, Cecelia McCoy and Vera Tubbs, both of Leon; brother, Robert Turnbull of Longmont, Colorado. 14 grandchildren, 49 great-grand-children and one great- great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marvel in 1980; three children, Julie Alexander, Pam Turnbull and Dwight Turnbull; and three siblings, Kenneth Turnbull, Viola Hanley and Gene Colton.
Visitation will be open after noon Sunday with the family receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
