Obituary from The Winterset Madisonian newspaper, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, USA on 7-17-1912:

Mrs. Joshua C. Clark [Cynthia Ann Clark] died at her home on South Fourth Avenue on last Thursday, the 11th, after a two months illness with sarcoma, cancer of the stomach. The deceased, whose maiden name was Cyntha Thornburg, was born in this county June 14, 1852. She was married to Joshua C. Clark May 17, 1875 and had lived in this county during her entire life of a little more than sixty years.

Besides the husband, she leaves six children-five boys and one daughter, Everett, Claude, Audley, Walter, Ruth and Charles. Beside her husband and children, she leaves to mourn her loss, eight grand children, four brothers, William and Lewis Thornburg of Winterset, Benjamin who resides in Warren county, George Thornburg of Oakdale, Nebraska and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Tedford also of ------, Nebraska, all of whom were with her in her last illness except Mrs. Tedford.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ on Sunday afternoon and burial in the Winterset cemetery.
