Obituary from The Winterset Madisonian newspaper, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, USA, March 1913:
Susan Louisa Templeman was born in Perry county, Ohio, May 22, 1851 and died at her home in Winterset on Tuesday, March 11, 1913, age 61 years 9 months and 17 days.
She was united in marriage to Rufus Clark on Sept. 3, 1871. To this union eight children were born, Ethel dying at the age of seven years, and Jennie at the age of three. She leaves to mourn her loss, a husband, six children, twelve grand children, one sister and three brothers. The children are Frank J., Alvin R. and Clarence of Winterset; Mrs. A. R. Donaldson of Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Geo. Rippey of Macksburg and Mrs. Thos. McCaulley of Lorimor. The sister, Mrs. Sadie Ellis of Lewis, Iowa. The brothers are Wm. Templeman of Winterset, Frank of Lewis, Iowa, and Frank of Fontanelle. The husband, one brother and six children were with her at the last and all was done that loving hands could do.
For about eighteen years, she has been a faithful member of the Church of Christ. She has been a great sufferer for about 10 years, but was faithful until death. She was an affectionate wife and loving mother.
Those remaining have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
The funeral was held at the Church of Christ this afternoon at 2:30, conducted by Rev. L. F. Davis and she was laid to rest beside her children in Rock City cemetery.
