Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 5-17-2006:

Darlene Mae Goodrich was born on September 7, 1930 near Liberty Center, IA and passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with a brain tumor at the Village Care Center on Monday, May 15, 2006. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 19, at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband, Donald Goodrich of Prole, Ia; sons, Larry (Karen) Goodrich of Prole and Rick (Rhonda) Goodrich of Golden, CO; grandchildren, Emily Rolfe of Kalamazoo, MI, Kerry Goodrich of Prole, Eric (Rachel) Goodrich of Keensburg, CO and Brad (Kelly) Goodrich of Ft. Madison, IA; great grandchildren, Jacob and Colton Goodrich of Keensburg and Mya Lawlor of Ft. Madison; brothers, Keith (Marie) Stalter of Lynwood, WA, Ray (Donna) Stalter of Indianola, James (Pat) Stalter of Adel; sisters, Mary (Willie) Adamson, Carolyn Knouse, Marie Knoer, and Shirley Kalbus all of Indianola; sisters-in-law Francis Stalter of New Virginia, IA and Kathy Stalter of Indianola.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Claren and Julia Stalter; brothers, Donald, Gale, Carroll and Jerry Stalter and great grandson Cole Bradley Goodrich; and an infant sister, Judy Sue Stalter.

She worked as a cook at Martensdale/St. Marys School District for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, teaching Sunday School, bird watching, crafts and baking.

Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 18 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present to greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial may be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hospice of Central Iowa or the St. Marys Fire Department.
