Mary Avanelle Culbertson passed away Friday, June 10 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA at the age of 72. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Indianola Regular Baptist Church in Indianola, IA with burial at Norwood Cemetery in Lucas County, IA. Visitation will be held 4 to 8 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14 at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola.

Mary was born on April 12, 1939 to James Benjamin and Avanelle (Bryan) Snodgrass in Lucas County. She is survived by her husband, Harold of Indianola; children, Rick (Pamela) Culbertson of Des Moines, Chuck Culbertson of Chariton, Terri (Bradley) Sterk of Johnston, and Steve (Becky) Culbertson of Lees Summit, MO; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; three brothers and a sister; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Helen Marker.
