Walter James "Jim" Sinclair was born on September 29, 1948. He passed away peacefully at his home in Carlisle on November 8, 2011, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Jim was a lifelong resident of the Carlisle area. He grew up in Levey, a small town once located around SE 40th and 45th Street. The family moved to Carlisle in 1963, where he continued to attend Carlisle School. Jim excelled in sports as a young man in baseball, football and track, and still holds a Carlisle High School track record. Jim also excelled academically and was appointed to the USMA at West Point in 1967. He also attended Simpson College and U of I for a time. Jim spent the next 45 years as a self-employed painter, as well as roofing and drywall work. Jim was a lover of nature. He loved to trap, fish, hunt mushrooms and garden, and was a master of each. Jim had a large family and many friends, and he loved to tell stories, especially to the kids he loved so much.
