Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 2-6-2006:

Services for Gerald Thomas Sheehey, 71, who died Saturday, February 4, 2006, from complications of lung cancer, will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carlisle, of which he was a member. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery in Churchville.

Gary was born in rural Warren County near Prole, Iowa and had served in the United States Army. He was a farmer and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Kay of Hartford; sons, Mick (Leah) Sheehey of Hartford and Todd (Lin) Sheehey of Pleasantville; daughters, Michele (Jim) Dillon of Carlisle and Leigh Ann (Eddie Horn) Sheehey of Des Moines; sisters, Irene Jones of Indianola and Rita Whelan of Chicago, IL; mother-in-law, Florabell Lukenbill of Pleasantville; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Mary Sheehey; brothers, James, Joe and Roy Sheehey; sister, Mary Ellen Hastie; brothers-in-law, Ralph Jones and Bob Lukenbill; and father-in-law, Rex Lukenbill.

Visitation will be held 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 7 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola where family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice in Johnston or his church.
