Helen Dorothy (Schroeder) Van Syoc, 76, daughter of Charles and Lenora Christianson Schroeder, was born Feb. 26, 1909, at Council Bluffs and died on Thursday, June 20, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Services were held Sunday, June 23, at 2 p.m. at Mosher Funeral Home, Milo, with interment at IOOF Cemetery at Milo.

She was a homemaker and had lived most of her married life in the Milo area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Irvin Milligan, in February 1962; second husband, Lorey V. VanSyoc in July 1976; a stepson Ralph; three sisters, Mildred Madison, Frances Gregg and Charlene Schroeder; and a grandson, Johnny Guy.

Helen is survived by her children, Gordon Milligan and wife Armalda of Des Moines, Ralph Milligan and wife Mary of Indianola, and Sharon Six and husband Larry of Milo; step-children, Ray VanSyoc and wife Margaret of Knoxville, Duane VanSyoc and wife Evelyn of West Des Moines, Dorothy Uttley and husband Keith of Milo, Elaine Iverson and husband Gerald of Norwalk, Calif., Jewel Jones and husband Dick of Maryville, Mo., Sharon Knoer and husband Patrick of Milo; 27 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Anderson and Joyce Clark and husband John, all of Council Bluffs. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, Jeanne Milligan Green, Joyce Milligan Kimzey and Larry Milligan, whom she helped raise through their childhood.
