Funeral services for Gerald "Jerry" Joseph Schneider, 86, will Thursday, March 26, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher Dallas. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Melcher Dallas with a Vigil Service at 5 p.m. Interment will be in the Bauer Cemetery.

Gerald passed away March 22, 2009 at the Westview of Indianola Care Center. He was born on March 16, 1923 in Warren County, IA and moved to Marion County in 1961 where he farmed until he retired.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years Delphine; daughters, Genie (Jim) Hansen, Charlene (Terry) Fisher, Sandy (Delbert) Schaffer, Bonnie (Jim) Colwell, and son Gary (Brenda) Schneider; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Gerald was born on March 16, 1923 in Warren County, IA to Joe and Maggie (Miller) Schneider. He married Delphine Meier on August 28, 1948 in Maydale, KS. Gerald moved to Marion County in 1961 where he farmed until he retired. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bauer and Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher Dallas. He was a farmer and a good neighbor, and in later years enjoyed watching the birds from his home. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Gerald passed away March 22, 2009 at the Westview of Indianola Care Center. He is survived by his wife Delphine; daughters, Genie (Jim) Hansen, Charlene (Terry) Fisher, Sandy (Delbert) Schaffer, Bonnie (Jim) Colwell, and son Gary (Brenda) Schneider; fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers: Paul, Bert, Bill, Bob, Floyd, and Herb Schneider; two sisters: Genieve Schneider, Geraldine Ryherd Ross; and a son-in-law, Dennis Wallace.
