Obituary from The Winterset Madisonian newspaper, Winterset, Madison County, Iowa, USA on 6-21-1916:

Nina Schmidt was born in Stutgart, Germany, Nov. 30, 1870, and came to America in 1890, when 20 years of age. She was married to Alva B. Weeks on Nov. 30, 1892. To this union were born five children, one daughter dying in infancy: Ila, Albert, Freda and Kenneth, with their father, survive her.

Besides her immediate family, she leaves to mourn her loss an aged mother and three brothers, all residing in Germany; one brother in Alaska and one sister in New York City.

In her young womanhood, she gave her heart to God, united with the Congregational church and was ever a faithful and consistent member, always ready and willing to help with the church and Sunday school work. Her great love for the Master, her ever ready hands in time of sickness and her great love for the children, all bear evidence of her kind and loving heart. As her last illness gradually increased, her love for her Master grew more and more of a comfort to her, until the final summons came when she passed to the Great Beyond with an assurance of a full acceptance.

She requested that her text be taken from the 14th chapter of St. John, and selected her pastor. The funeral was held at the Fellowship church, Friday, June 16th, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Roy Spooner, with interment in the Hamblin cemetery.
