Elsie Lois (Schirner) Croy, 79, of Des Moines passed away Sunday, August 3, 2003 at Westview Care Center in Indianola. Services will be at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Pleasantville on Thursday, August 7 at 1:30 p.m., with visitation two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in the Dallas Cemetery.

Elsie was born in Swan, IA on August 1, 1924, the daughter of Willis Evan and Gladys Ruth (Benge) Schirner. Elsie loved her children and spent her life as a homemaker. She married Merle Croy, Sr. on November 17, 1941 in Trenton, MO. After his death, she married Dewayne Croy on September 2, 1964 in Des Moines.

She is survived by five children by Merle, Sr.; Merle (Judy) Croy, Jr. of Bismark, ND; Dixie (Ronnie) Benge of Osceola; Lois Herold, Billy (Bobbie) Croy; and Budd (Ellen Royce) Croy, all of Des Moines; two children by DeWayne: Cheryl (Joe) Hadley of Des Moines and Marilyn (David) Mohr of Dallas, TX. She had two special sons (nephews), Burle Croy, Jr. and James Croy; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Katherine Schirner and Betty Thornburg of Winterset; and brother Ancil Denzler (Barbara) of Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Merle, Sr. and Dewayne; brother, Silas Schirner; daughter-in-law, Anita Croy; and grandson, Randy Herold.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are being handled by Mason Funeral Home of Pleasantville.
