Eleanor Schneider, 86, of Melcher-Dallas died of cancer Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Indianola Good Samaritan Center.

Services were held Sept. 9 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Melcher-Dallas, of which she was a member, with burial at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Schneider was born in Olpe, Kan., and had lived in the Melcher-Dallas area most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of her church's altar and rosary society and Mission Guild. She also was a member of the Melcher-Dallas Senior Citizens Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roman.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou Putz and Carol Putz, both of Lacona; two sons, Ken of Lacona and Larry of Dallas, Ia.; three sisters, Theresa Redeker of Olpy, Kan., Bertha Trear of Madison, Kan., and Mary Lou Burnheide of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, John Scheve of Emporia, Kan.; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
