Stanton Abel Savage, son of Charles and Carrie Savage was born September 21, 1900 in Lucas county, Iowa, and departed this life in Greene county Iowa, September 22, 1939. Stanton was 39 years and one day old.
He had been in poor health for the past three years and since the first of September his condition grew steadily worse. With all his suffering. it was his lot to bear, he was uncomplaining and patient. His life was devoted to his family and always it was his aim and ambition to make them comfortable and happy.
Stanton resided in Lucas county until the year 1915 when he moved with his parents to Milo, Iowa. His education was received in the public school at Chariton and Milo, Iowa.
He came to Greene county in 1918 where he was married to Arvilla Calvert, October 29, 1924. The young couple established their home near Dana, Iowa, where they have continued to reside. To them were born three daughters; Mildred, who preceded her farther in death March 26, 1926, and Norma Mae and Donna Jean.
Stanton leaves to mourn his untimely death, his loving companion, his wife; their two daughters; his father and mother; five brothers and three sisters, Azel, Harry, Bert, Carl and Ancil, Mrs. Ethel Heefner, Mrs. Minnie Weir and Mrs. Minta Flack, besides other relatives and a host of friends who have admired this devoted husband and father.
Stanton was a member of the Christian Union Church at Milo, Iowa.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Dana, Iowa, Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24, 1939 at 2:30 p.m. Rev. Roger Crabtree of Indianola, Iowa and Rev. Franklin Clark of Dana were in charge of the services. Burial was made in the Paton Cemetery.
