Ferdinand Michael Knochel, 62, of Lacona died of smoke inhalation Tuesday, Nov. 11, 1997, at home. Services were held Nov. 15 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Lacona, of which he was a member, with burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.

Mr. Knochel was born in Straton, Colo., and had lived in Lacona most of his life. He was a farmer.

Survivors include four sisters, Mary Marnell of Newton, Marcella Schaeffer and Ida Ripperger, both of Lacona, and Betty Wachter of Milo.

Mosher Funeral Home in Lacona handled arrangements.
