Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, photographed from an Obituary Book at the City Library in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA:

Samantha Josephine, daughter of Jacob and Matilda Frank Keller was born near Peoria, Ill., Nov. 10, 1869 and died in the Worthington, Minnesota nursing home, July 25, 1949. She came with her parents to Warren county, Iowa in 1876. She was baptized when a child and later united with the M.E. church. She attended Simpson College for awhile and normal training schools. Afterward teaching in the Warren county, schools.

On March 33, 1898 she was united in marriage with Fred G. Reese and to this union were born 7 children: Cecil K. Lamoni, Ia., Mrs. Rollo Crowther (Nellie), Fairmont, Minn., Duane C., Minneapolis, Minn., Frederic A., deceased in 1918, Mrs. Arthur Selberg (Margaret) Worthington, Mrs. Jac Buhr (Verle) St. James, Minn., Gaylord F. Artesian, South Dakota.

Surviving are husband, six children, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Maggie Spear, Lacona, Ia. and Mrs. Edith Shirck, Kansas City, Kansas. Also two sister-in-laws, Mrs. Katherine Hood and Mrs. Eva Thornton, Des Moines, Ia.

Funeral services at the Jenson Funeral Home, St. James, Minn at 1:00 p.m., July 27th, 1949. The body was taken to the home of her son, Gaylord, at Artesian, South Dakota where she had formerly lived. Graveside services were held by the resident pastor at 10 a.m. the following day.

Rev. Jos. Calhoun III conducted services at St. James, Minn., mentioning her kindly friendliness and patient suffering in all her years of illness and giving her own testimony of her faith:

I believe in Immortality and in God as a great spirit guiding us all by a single call of hope and song that lingers long with sunset and the stars. I believe that love outlives my breath and that beauty is a part of God and that death renews life.
