Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 12-8-2005:

Pete Paul Kauzlarich, 87, passed from this life on Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 9, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Madrid, of which he was a member. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Madrid.

Pete was born on November 17, 1918 to Paul and Louisa Kauzlarich in Melcher, IA. He was an army veteran of WWII, serving as a sergeant until he was honorably discharged on August 15, 1945. Pete married Geneva Hoch and she preceded him in death on May 8, 1959. He later married Lois I. Davis on June 28, 1961 in Ely, Nevada. They made their home in Granger. Pete was self-employed as a dry cleaner for 40 years, until he retired in 1983.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 45 years, Lois I. Kauzlarich of Granger; two daughters, Nancy Miller and her husband Paul of Madrid and Carol Babich and her husband Bob of Kansas City, MO; one son, Terry Kauzlarich and his wife Susan of Johnston; five grandchildren, Steve Miller and his wife Amanda of Omaha, NE, Joe Kauzlarich of Seattle, WA, Jenny Kauzlarich of West Des Moines, Megan Miller of Lakewood, CO, and Mike Kauzlarich of Urbandale; four sisters, Sylvia Turner of Johnston, Mary Bleau and her husband Roger of Surprise, AZ, Julia Ferrell of Monticello, IA and Erma Taylor and her husband John of Omaha, NE; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife, Pete was preceded into eternal life by his brother, Matt Kauzlarich.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, at Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid, where the family will greet friends, and at 7 p.m. a Vigil service will begin. The family has respectfully requested that memorials be made to St. Malachy's Catholic Church.
