Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, photographed from a book at the City Library in Indianola, Warren County, Iowa, USA:

Death has claimed another victim for its own. Once more hearts are torn with sorrow at the parting of the ways. Christopher Columbus Fridley, son of John and Martha Fridley, was born in Scott County, Iowa, May 9, 1853 and died March 7, 1910, age 56 years, 9 months and 28 days. He was married to Cassie Clary, August 29, 1877, and to this union seven children were born, three girls and four boys; Mrs. Della Rodgers, Mrs Ada Morgan, Mrs. Ida Long, Clyde, Fred, Elmer and James, who with their mother, his six brothers and two sisters mourn his death, father, mother, one brother and one sister having gone on before.

Mr. Fridley was well known to many in this community, having lived here for many years. He was an energetic man, having worked hard until affliction came on, to give his family the comforts of life. Soon the grass will be growing over another tomb. Soon the birds will carrol in the trees and darmant nature rise to life again. But the body, no longer racked by pain, will rest calmly beneath the sod.

Arrangements had been made for a public funeral at the Hammondsburg church but on account of the cause of the death of the deceased being pneumonia, only short services were conducted by C.S. Fair at the home of George Fridley in Milo, after which the interment took place at the Hammondsburg Cemetery.
