Opal "Maxine" Blackford passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at the Taylor House in Des Moines. Maxine was born on November 20, 1930 in Des Moines to William and Nancy (Ross) Fisher.

Maxine retired from Dahl's Food Store in 1989 after almost 30 years of dedicated service.

Maxine is survived by her children, Diane McPherson, Mike (Cindy) Blackford, Sue (Gary) Skinner and Brenda (Rick) Baccus; her seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Pierson; her brothers, Jack, Jim and George Fisher; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, eight siblings and her husband, Richard.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 14, 2013 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street. Family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. There will be a private family inurnment at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Maxine's loving memory.
