Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 2-22-2003:

Neomi Clara Heinen, 81, of Madrid, Ia., died of leukemia Thursday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Church of St. Malachy in Madrid, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Mrs. Heinen was born in Wesley and had lived in north central Iowa many years before moving to Madrid 28 years ago. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard; four sons, Dennis of Huxley, Gary of Garner, Bernard of Slater and Timothy of Ankeny; three brothers, William Foertsch and John Foertsch, both of Wesley, and Edward Foertsch of Burt; five sisters, Imelda Heinen and Irene Kuyper, both of Algona, Rosemary Foertsch of Wesley, Sister Mary Leon and Sister Mary Dorthea, both of Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, where the family will be present from 4 to 8 p.m. and where a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid is handling arrangements.
