Services for Edward Eugene Ernst, 74, of Melcher will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Bauer Cemetery. Mr. Ernst died of cancer Friday at Knoxville Area Community Hospital.

A retired farmer, Mr. Ernst was born in Ottoville, Ohio, and lived in Melcher most of his life. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and was a charter member of the Red Rock Coon Hunters Association.

Survivors include his wife, Esther; four daughters, Mary Dye of Chariton, Joan Stoneking of Pella, Rita Krueger of Prairie City and Jane Ernst of Des Moines; three sons, George and Joe, both of Lacona, and Glen of Carmel, Ind.; a brother, Lawrence of Lacygne, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Mosher Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at his church.
