Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 12-27-2012:

Deane Everett Courtney, 88, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 29, at Iles Funeral Homes, Westover Chapel in Des Moines, where the family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service time on Saturday. Burial will follow at Waukee Cemetery in Waukee, IA.

Deane was born on February 15, 1924 in Milo, Iowa, the youngest of ten children to Thomas and Martha (Dollison) Courtney. He was a navy veteran of World War II. Deane had lived most of his life in the Waukee and Des Moines areas. He was formerly employed as a carpenter with George Gray Construction. Deane also had worked at the former Ponderosa Golf Course until seven years ago.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his five children, Tom (Ruby) Courtney of Des Moines, Martha Courtney of West Des Moines, Mike Courtney of Des Moines, Patti (Jim) Moller of Grimes and John (Betty) Courtney of West Des Moines; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Deane was preceded into eternal life by his parents; three sisters; and six brothers.
