Obituary from the Overton Funeral Home web site (www.overtonfunerals.com) on 12-17-2012:

Services for Elsie C. Harrell, 99, will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 18 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola with burial following in the Motor Cemetery, Milo, IA.
Elsie was born in Searcy County, Arkansas on December 4, 1913 to John and Luzania (Tucker) Byrd. She married Jules Marvin Harrell October 23, 1931 and they had four children, Zane Paul, Alta Lee, JB and Zema Lou.
In 1934, Elsie and Jules moved from Marshall, Arkansas to Bochito, Oklahoma where they share cropped and had their last two children. Times were difficult for them during the depression years. They moved to Arizona about 1940 where they worked with cotton farmers. Then, they moved to California in 1944 where they prospered very well. Elsie always said California was good for them.
Elsie and Jules moved to Iowa in 1993 to be near their daughter, Alta and son-in-law Dwight Michener. Jules passed away in 2006 and Elsie lived with daughter Alta until she passed away on December 15, 2012, after having a major heart attack on her 99th birthday.
Elsie was a very conservative person. She loved to grow her own vegetables and did so until this past summer. Gardening was her hobby as well as canning and preserving what she grew. She had a terrific memory and was well thought of and loved by her whole family. She will surely be missed by all.
Elsie is survived by her children, Zane Harrell of Yucaipa, CA, Alta Michener of Milo/Pleasantville; 13 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jules Harrell; son, J.B. Harrell; daughter, Zema Peters; two grandchildren and 10 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home where family will be present from 10:30 to 11 a.m. to greet friends. Memorials may be given to Milo Fire and Rescue.
