Obituary from The Des Moines Register newspaper, Des Moines, Polk County, Iowa, USA on 1-1-2004:

Bessie Marie Perry, 87, died Monday, December 29, 2003 at Regency Care Center, formerly of Millpond. Services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 2 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Bessie was a past member of the V.F.W. Chapter 20, where she had helped design and made their flag. She also enjoyed playing the piano, quilting, fishing and making ceramics.

She had seven children. Those surviving are her sons, Melvin Perry of Des Moines and Jimmy Perry of Norwalk; daughter, Sherry Dittmer of Milo; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Alfred Blanchard of Creston; sister, Irene Overholser of Creston; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Lee Perry.

Visitation is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Friday prior to services. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or American Kidney Foundation.
