Obituary from an unknown newspaper, date unknown, scanned from an Obituary owned by Candace Rae (Candy) Boucher-Dittmer:

Oliver Edwin Grant Weston, son of Sylvannus and Rosanna Weston, was born at LaPort, IN., January 25, 1864, and died July 14, 1935, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Forrest Gordon. He was seventy-one years, five months, and eighteen days of age.

At the age of two years Mr. Weston moved with his parents to a farm five miles southwest of Indianola, where he grew to manhood. On August 2, 1890, he was united in marriage to Olive Blodgett. To this union were born seven children, three of whom, Merrill, Earl, and Mrs. Bessie Hutt, have preceded their father in death.

In February, 1903, Mr. and Mrs. Weston united with the Indianola Friends Church. Here Mr. Weston served as Sunday school superintendent for some time and retained his church membership until the time of his death.

It was in May, 1904, that his wife died, leaving her husband the double task of supporting a family while maintaining a home. But he did not fail. He kept his children with him and stood by them all through the years. How hard this task must have been at times, who but himself could ever know?

For Mr. Weston the beginning of the end came April 10, when he was seized with a heart attack. From that time on he was ill, gradually weakening until he was confined to his bed some four weeks ago. He realized from the first that it was to be his last illness and was quite uncomplaining to the very end. So passes another loved and loving father, and esteemed citizen.

Mr. Weston leaves to mourn his loss his children, Mrs. Pearl Glasgow of Ottumwa, Charles Weston, Wilbur Weston, and Mrs. Mary Gordon of Indianola, a brother, Wilbur Weston of Portland, OR., thirteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.

Yes, Mr. Weston has left us, but let us not grieve, for he has only gone the way we all must go. Like a child put to school by a kind father, with tasks done and tired out, he has just been called back home.

The funeral services were held at the Orr Funeral Home Tuesday, July 16, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Richard L. Wiles, pastor of the Friends church.
