Services for Eleanor Margaret Andrew Nicholls, 84, who died Friday, August 31, 2007, will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 4 at Farmer's Chapel United Methodist Church near Indianola with burial following in the Palmyra Cemetery.

Eleanor Andrew Nicholls was born October 22, 1922 to Dwight and Audrey (Bledsoe) Andrew southwest of Indianola. She graduated from Indianola High School in 1940 and attended Simpson College. On February 25, 1945 she married Marion Nicholls. They started farming in 1945 on Marion's father's farm. After living on the farm where they started housekeeping for 30 years, they purchased a building site where Marion's aunt once lived. They moved into their new house in March of 1976. They raised two sons, Bob and Jim, on their century farm.

Over the years Eleanor worked at the Indianola City Hall, Wright Tree Service, and Hartford-Carlisle Savings Bank. She and Phyllis Core started the Cloverleaf 4-H Club as leaders and helped at the County Fair. She was also a member of P.E.O. Chapter N.G. Palmyra Stitchery Club and Farmers Chapel Methodist Church where she has played the organ for a number of years.

Surviving are two sons and their families, Bob S. and his wife Linda and Bob's sons Bryan and Bob D., Jim and wife Janet and their children Jennifer and Tom; as well as other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marion in 2003; her parents and one sister Phyllis.

Visitation will be held 1 to 5 p.m. Monday, September 3 at Overton Funeral Home where family will be present from 3 to 5 p.m. to greet friends.

Memorials may be given to her church.
