Funeral services for Lesta Anderson Roe, 97, will be Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 10 a.m. at the Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Lacona. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Norwood Cemetery.

Lesta, the youngest daughter of Riley L. and Marie Oxenreider Anderson was born June 30, 1911 on a farm near Norwood, Iowa and departed this life August 18, 2008 at the Westview Care Center in Indianola, Iowa.

Lesta was united in marriage to Henry Virgil Roe on November 8, 1932 and to this union two children were born, Harold E. and Connie Marie.

Lesta and Virgil lived near Norwood for 33 years then moved to Lacona for 36 years before moving to an apartment in Martensdale, Iowa where she lived until entering the care center in March of 2008.

Lesta accepted Jesus as her Savior at a young age and attended church and Bible study as long as her health permitted. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lesta loved people, and could remember names and birth dates, having a sharp memory until the very last. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Lesta was preceded in death by her parents; husband Virgil; three sisters, and a brother.

She leaves to mourn her passing a son Harold (Beverly) Roe of Martensdale, and daughter Connie Bryant of Middletown, OH; five grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and her best friend Vera Penick of Indianola.
